Lucky Louie: God is dead and we’re alone

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

“Why” asks the child…it’s a scenario that is all too easy to imagine, which is of course what makes good comedy. We’ve posted some of Louis CK’s great stand up work, and here is a clip from his TV show Lucky Louie, which i believe is no longer on air. You can and should pick it up on DVD as it was chock full of good scenes (check this one on buttsex seriously, it’s funny as the dickens, and the audio is probably not safe for work…depending where you work).

Gorey: How to die Propper

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

Hereis a nice page with all the propper ways to die according to the great Edward Gorey. A master illustrator with a ghoulishly glorious sense of humor, Gorey’s work is not to be missed. This is from the great series “The Gashlycrumb Tinies” one of his most famous, depicting a death for each letter in the alphabet.

Markus Pöyhönen Bouncing Bulge- It bounces…in German

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

Why? I dunno, I guess it’s for the ladies…and a few of the men. You really have to wait for the end for the “bouncing”, however you get the German throughout.

For the sake of gender fairness here’s one for the gents: Farang Ding Dong

Japanese Arcade: Mad Skills

Monday, June 18th, 2007

The Japanese have, hands down, the coolest arcade games. Their games have evolved to combine human interaction in some really inventive ways. Check out this amazing dude as he blazes through some classical riffs. Since the ensuing conversation is in Japanese I will attempt to translate:

gamer: did you get that on camera.
camera: heck yes.
gamer: sweet, that was a crushing display of my prowess!
camera: you are going to get so much tang.

Busey- Madman of genius?

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Pretty clearly he’s a madman (the extent of the act is questionable), and occasionally strange rational pieces of wisdom fly out of his apparent stream of consciousness rantings. Just try to follow him here as he…reflects(?) on Hunter S. Thompson’s death. Did anyone else watch the TV show with Gary, “I’m With Busey“? Where he simply torments Adam De La Pena, comedy writer and possibly former fan of Busey relentlessly…it was one of the few “Reality” TV shows (not real by the way, a parody) that actually merits a watching here and there, mostly because it was so bizarre.

Busey: on Hunter S. Thompson

Video: Snorkling through mudpuddles in your jeep

Saturday, June 16th, 2007

This guy demonstrates a few things here, how to clean your jeep in a mud puddle (hey the whole point is so it looks like you used it right?), and in case you wondered, this answers the best left unasked question “What do rednecks do on the the weekend? The video work here leaves a bit to be desired, but it seems like everyone had a hoot out at the old sinkhole, so you can’t fault them too much eh? I wonder if he had a snorkel on the inside as well as it seems the cabin must be filled with water as well, perhaps full scuba gear was deployed.

Wild at Heart (1990) - Bobby Peru makes a visit

Friday, June 15th, 2007

It doesn’t get much finer than this scene from Wild at Heart, in which Willam Dafoe gives possibly one of his best performances ever. Watch as the entirely creepy and perfect Bobby Peru teaches Laura Dern a thing or two about bunnies. “Y’all take a listen, you’ll hear the deep sound comin’ down from Bobby Peru.” Ya feel dirty just watching it.

Pizza Plates! I love pizza

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Who doesn’t love pizza? Really, I can’t think of anyone I’ve ever met who didn’t like a good slice of pie. Check out these totally awesome pizza plates from the Bright and Bold online store. Sometimes it’s a simple design that really is impressive, and this fits into that category. Now excuse me I think I hear Roccos (best pizzaria in tucson, so says the Fat Man and we concur) calling my name.
